It's always fun to see. Maybe because places are usually so precious about their logos, but I also love when all parts of a cover are incorporated into the art.
The Great Unpublished segment makes me curious about an adjacent topic: the ones that got away. Would love to read in future issues about licenses you *almost* got but other projects that may have started at IDW but for one reason or another never made it or came out through a different publisher.
Funny timing because based on another comment I got this morning, next week'll feature one of those!
For the most part, whenever that happens, no matter how much I was positive a book would work and I did everything to get it, I was just as quick to dismiss it in my mind after it ended up going elsewhere. "Pff, Stranger Things comics? Ehh, I didn't want it anyway, that show's never going to catch on."
Which brings another good one to mind that I'll definitely spotlight soon! Good call.
Can't wait. There was a certain TV show from 2004 that became a cultural phenomenon that I would have killed to pitch for, but alas never came to be, from IDW or any other publisher.
Wow--you're right. I forgot all about that one but just looked back and found not only Ted's cover but a handful of pages that he did before lawyers brought it to a screeching halt. There was a great Frank Cho cover done for that first issue, too.
I'm loving this newsletter, Chris. The Logo Destruction set is pure delight.

Ted McKeever! I seem to recall seeing some Princess of Mars art he did for IDW too around that time... or am I simply dreaming on a Monday???
